Day 12 - We woke up a little earlier than usual, but we were already docked in Split, Croatia. Because Montenegro has a small stretch of coastline, we have not been in Croatia since Dubrovnik on Monday. Holland America Lines had gratis buses waiting to bring us right into town, although walking looked as though it'd have taken less than 20 minutes. We stopped right outside of Diocletian's Palace.

I always judge my opinion of a place on the time spent considering living there. Split is a place we could easily spend a summer, mainly because it is a sizeable city. Most of the ports in which we've spent time since Rome have been smaller cities. Split was large enough to have a considerable open-air market right in the downtown area. We even spent our final Kuna on a few prune/plums to try before heading back to our ship. I also had a half-liter sized bottle of Imperial Stout inside the twisting streets of the palace.
