Day 17 - Visiting the Albanian coast might not be on everyone's bucket list, but I'm glad we got to see Sarandë today. It was pushed back against the mountain. It was also economically less developed due to a mad communist dictator who built bunkers in preparation for war rather than useful infrastructure.
It's okay now as a mad rush towards tourism gives it a beach vibe more akin to developing countries. The vibe wasn't so different than other spots we've been. I liked walking around town. We've made an effort to try to see how it'd be like to live in a place rather than try to join the other tourists in buses. For one thing, a travelling horde of fellow passengers would drive me up the wall. I've felt that way since my first tentative steps in overseas travel. Who wants to be with a bunch of fat, US or Australian tourists who never really leave home where ever they venture?

This home made me a little homesick for Puerto Vallarta, so I did see the charm in this place. The highlight though was probably a $US 3.00 half litre of draught beer.

We will be heading to the Greek Islands for the next week and a half.
