Jay still had his old Medical Services Plan Card, the one he'd gotten when we arrived in British Columbia 20 years ago. The province has moved to putting the number on the back of drivers' licences now, meaning no new lone MSP cards will be issued. My health number is on mine. The switch over started about three years ago and must be completed by the end of 2017. This means that non-drivers also must visit an ICBC office to obtain the new BC Services Card.
We promptly arrived at the ICBC office at the Metrotown Mall at about two minutes past ten. The doors had been opened just a few minutes before we arrived. The wait went smoothly. It was probably about ten minutes for the initial line to disappear. Then, a number received was called at an open window by the available clerk. The second wait was probably 20 minutes. Jay had this particulars recorded and photo taken. His new card is promised in the post within two weeks.
