After the filling breakfast we started to get ready though. I wondered about the practicality of having a buffet breakfast on the morning of boarding of a cruise. The morning was sunny and bright, so we were happy in our decision to get to the Regal Princess on our own.
At about 10:30 am we checked out and rolled our bags to the Central Train Station. On the same line we got to the city, we continued two further stations. Then, we had a bit of trouble figuring out where to catch the #27 bus. There was no indication of transport by that number out front. So we rolled along the edge of the station and waited for a time at a sign which indicated a bus would get us to the most modern pier. Eventually, we followed some other tourists and rolled around a half kilometer to the correct location.
It was an fairly long trip of twenty minutes and we were let off right beside this behemoth with room for 3,500 passengers and 1,300 staff. Check in was easy and checking out the ship was the major chore for this afternoon.
This really is a pretty big boat! We met our table-mates for the 8:00 dinners. We asked for a table of eight but we had two noshows. We made a bit of a fracas as we were next to two very large noisy tables. We will see if we can be moved to a quieter location. I have the feeling this is going to be a very interesting journey.
