Taking an early morning balloon ride over Luxor was absolutely awesome. We were lucky as the wind carried us across the Nile. The pilot said that only happens a few times a year as they generally take off and land on the West Bank near the Valley of the Kings. How strange to be at the whim of a breeze!
We made it almost to the airport before touching down. The vacant construction rubble makes it look as if it were precarious. It was smooth sailing and a smooth landing. The whole neighbourhood was quite surprised by our decent.
The thing I'll most remember is the quietness of the ride when the flame wasn't being used. We could hear the sounds of rural life and even all the animals far belong. This was an excellent way to end our winter in Luxor. Now, however, we only have packing to occupy us for the rest of the day. We need to get up similarly early tomorrow to catch our plane tomorrow morning.
