The sky was brighter and clearer today which made it a good day for a walk uptown. I haven't been getting my 8,000 steps in lately, at least so says my Mi band. I walked through Queen's Park for a few reasons.
First, this is the last week the Petting Zoo will remain open and I wanted to say goodbye to the animals. This little bit of New Westminster tradition runs from Victoria Day until Labour Day. Jay thinks the animals will be happy to get out of there after being bothered all summer by screaming little kids. He thinks the creatures have had enough stress for one year. On the other hand, I bet they will be sad without all the human contact to which they've grown accustomed. I asked this fellow but he didn't seem to give me an answer.
Next, I wanted to see whether the recent wind storms had done any damage. I didn't see many downed trees or big branches but the maintenance crew could've already cleaned things up.
It did seem a little like the end of the summer. I am sure that we're going to get some additional hot weather, but this is already September. During my walk, I did notice leaves turning colours and many which had fallen. It was cool today and the whole journey on foot felt as though it won't be very long before autumn bites us.
