For years, we've tried to stop by at Surrey's Fusion Festival if we're in town. Getting to the 2-day event in Holland Park is a breeze as we just get off at the end of the SkyTrain line at King George. The park is across the street. Pavilions from the expat and business communities are set up, the majority with food from that country for sale. Also a number of stages are packed full of entertainment.

The countries represented differ from year to year. Unlike previous years, Sri Lanka did not have any participants. This is the 2015 lineup:
Afghanistan, Barbados, China, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, England, Fiji, Ghana, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Jamaica, Kenya, Lebanon, Metis, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Scotland, Spain, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Togo, Tonga, Turkey, Ukraine, Vietnam.

I love that immigrant groups in Canada are encouraged to keep active cultural ties. There truly are people from all corners of the world making Metro-Vancouver their home.
