I never really had a career where I earned much money; however, I always ensured I spent less. For me, being financially prudent was helped by keeping meticulous track of expenses. Computers have been a great help, right from the beginning.
First, I kept a monthly budget in Lotus 1-2-3 and, later, MS Excel. Soon after arriving in Canada in the late 1990's I started using MS Money. So, when first mentioned here in this blog nine years ago, I had already been using it about that many years. I enter every single expense, fee, and interest payment and have for all these years. Having access to every single purchase and bit of income has a great historical value, but maybe it is past time to move on.
Intuit's mint.com appears to be pretty awesome at first blush. It just might move me from the computer age into the Internet age.
