Three Times a Charm - Day 70

Most food items probably cost around 25% less than in Canada. The savings on some items are more than others, of course. We probably do eat better here as there's an improved winter selection of fruits, vegetables, and seafood. Even though the bills are less, there often end up being more of them. In New Westminster, we mostly do grocery shopping once a week. Of course, our schedules used to revolve around work. I cannot foresee changes in the frequency when we return in the spring though.

On the other hand, we always end up grocery shopping here. Or that is how it seems. It probably varies but we try to go to the municipal market, Ley's Supermarket, and either a Walmart of Soriana Supermarket. So we shop three or four times a week.


The Pitillal Soriana Hypermarket is in the same shopping mall as a Cinépolis® movie theatre. In fact, one reason we went shopping today is due to the fact it's cheap movie day. We decided we might as well stop in for a show and then do the shopping as we leave. It is a quick tunnel bus trip there and back home. We saw Taken 3 today. I like Liam Neeson as an actor. He seems like a person you might meet in everyday life. Each ticket cost us $US 1.35 for the movie. So surely, it's better seeing something on a big screen than on Netflix.
