An idea surfaced. After being here numerous times, we'd never really seen the beaches of Hotel Zone. So we went on a bus heading north rather than fulfilling our original intentions in the other direction. Just after getting through Centro, one comes to the municipal stadium. This is were we got off, right in front of the Sheraton Buganvilias which is probably still considered in a part of Puerto Vallarta Centro.
We found an access path right next to the southern side of the Sheraton complex. Here it was rocky but as we progressed up the beach, it got sandier. We kept walking into the southern hotel zone. We saw hundreds people staying in the hotel complexes. We hiked back from the beach to road along the northern edge of the Canto de Sol.
If one has a week, I can see the allure of an all-inclusive. One never has to leave the property with its non-stop food and drinks. It makes sense for those who fly in just for a chance to thaw out by the pool in the sun for a week.
That is not our Puerto Vallarta. I know we'd much rather be where we are. I love chillin' in the Old Town, hugging the edge of the mountains.
