It's already well past time for planning to certain locations. I'd been contemplating a bit of this winter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, but that probably should have been arranged a month or two ago. Luckily, it's not the only option. In fact, I wish we were like others in knowing where our favourite home-away-from-home was. Unfortunately, we know about a number of places closer to the equator where we would love to spend time. What about Malaysia? Egypt? Cambodia? Bali? Moreover, there are still plenty of undiscovered spots we have yet to visit.
An advantage of knowing these things can help with planning for our future. Rather than buying into an unmoveable property somewhere south, we can divide that amount of money over the next 10 or 15 winters and see where we end up. That sounds like a plan worth developing.
For example, we only spent three short weeks in Central America in 2011. We travelled through a bit of each country, except Panama.
Flying to Panama doesn't cost much more than getting to New York.
