No Umbrellas on Oct 3, 2006

I don't often mention current events in my blog as these entries are primarily about things we do. In this case, though, those two topics intersect. I have been rather interested in the protests which are presently occurring in Hong Kong.

We were most recently in mainland China but I fondly recall a multi-day stopover in Hong Kong. How could that have already been almost exactly eight years ago? Every single time we have visited to Sri Lanka from Vancouver, we have travelled westward. Going over the Atlantic would take a similar amount of time, but it just seems more convenient and cheaper to go through Asia.

I do offer my best wishes for the peoples of Hong Kong during this time of democratic reform.
