I really loved the feeling of Aqaba even in the few short hours we'd been there. Yet, when I got up I wondered if we should get moving a little north. We started checking booking.com even before we had breakfast at the hotel. Our next main historical site on this trip is Petra. We thought we might extend our stay in Wadi Moosa if we got there in the late afternoon.
First, however, we had the morning in Aqaba, Jordan.
We walked down by the Red Sea for a few hours. My original impression of the city was confirmed. I like that city. We went back to the hotel, packed and checked out at almost exactly noon.
We then walked down several blocks for lunch. Earlier, we had verified where the mini-bus station was. It was certainly within walking distance. So, we headed there at about 12:40 and waited about twenty minutes for a bus to Wadi Moosa to get full. Ladies were all out as this is a holiday weekend and people go to the seaport to shop. Most of the 35 in the bus were women but a few guys and kids were crammed in as well. We left at 1:00 first travelling north on the desert road. Eventually, we made the turn off to "The King's Highway".
Then, the scenery got more interesting. The hills turned greener. Trees appeared. The elevation made it cooler. By three we were in this city.
After a bit of complaining we have a great room in the Al-Anbat 3. In fact it might be one of the nicest rooms of entire trip so far. Now we are well positioned to see Petra tomorrow. The gate is only a few kilometers away!
