We bought two day tickets to visit this morning. After a really good buffet breakfast at the hotel, the manager drove us to the gate so we wouldn't have to pay 1 JD for a taxi. It was nearly nine o'clock when we entered. First one has to walk out to the actual entrance. Then the walk through the canyon is impressive.

Upon exit of the nearly one mile cleft one stands right in front of one of the most famous buildings, the Treasury.

Visiting Petra is interesting for the human aspect. It was a thriving place at the time of Christ. It also is geographically amazing. The remains are not as impressive as some of the ancient sites we recently witnessed in Egypt, but there is added awe in its inspiring environment.

We picked to walk up a trail to view a potential sacrificial area. It was a real hike and ended up tiring me out. Of course the weather is cooler here as it's mountainous, but 30C at midday is warm. We also walked around enough to see what we can do tomorrow.

So more, tomorrow ...
