A New Wasteland

When I was growing up, television was often referred to as a wasteland. That is because the medium was so powerful, and yet it was commonly used to view such mindless trivialities.

Welcome to the twenty-teens! Technology advances but people do not. The newest wasteland is the very device on which you may be reading this. Literally, you are connected to the world right now. You could be learning a new language, brushing up on your high school math, or studying art history though a tour of the works of Great Masters. Instead, I notice to the side of my Facebook feed that someone or other gave someone a life on Farmhands Revised or Chocolate Crush.

Gag. I think I am going to be ill.
