My desire to leave the obese self behind didn't include any thoughts of exercise either. I think the math is pretty straight forward when it shows one can get thinner simply by putting a whole lot less food into one's mouth.
Walking uptown frequently may have become a bit of an addiction due to the brain's release of endorphins. There's nothing better than natural drugs, I guess. Or the fact it has become a little easier may have been an incentive.
Even with all that said, I cannot explain why I felt I 'had to' get to Walmart to buy a basketball. I saw the hoops in the small court area of the new park. For some unexplained reason, I felt the need to be among the first to get a ball through them. I haven't had a basketball for probably 40 years and I wasn't even terribly proficient with one in those days. I never played on the school team, nor spent a lot of time throwing at a hoop over our garage door in Wendell, NH.
I made the shot and then made the shot of it. What talent!
Today though, I got a new Wilson Super Grip. I dribbled the length of the New West parkade just to get to Begie Street and then retraced those steps through the parking lot just to get to the entrance of the Westminster Pier Park. The court area was all mine in the early afternoon. I think I averaged making about 5% of the shots I attempted. Just keeping the ball in the court kept me jumping and moving. After only 20-minutes worth, I think I've set myself up for a few stiff muscles tomorrow!
