After class ended today, I noted a few students were talking in the back of the classroom. One was originally from China, while another from India. The third grew up in Iran and the final came from Thailand. They were having an interesting discussion between themselves. I joined in to give my two cents worth too. I turned off the lights and we headed out through the cafeteria to the front entrance. Outside felt really cool and the soon-to-set sun was shining on the snow-capped mountains.

We were heading to our cars. I mentioned that it was amazing that we had all come so far. We had converged from such different places. We held such unique but very different backgrounds. Yet, here at this singular moment, we were standing less than a meter apart, interacting. I was struck by the uniqueness of the situation. What special circumstances the world had provided us!
Thank you, Canada.
