At around 9:45, after putting our bags downstairs at the front desk, we jumped on and off the LRT and monorail systems still looking around Kuala Lumpur. Of course, as a general rule, it's famous sites first, right?
We went directly to the Petronas Towers. These twin towers were the world's tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004. It was a little discouraging to discover the bridge between the towers is closed until December for renovations. In consolation, that part of the structure only appears about half way up. There are beautiful grounds and park behind the towers and shopping galore within them.
We saw jumpers from the other tall structure here. Base jumpers with parachutes are in competition from the KL tower. We also stopped at other stations just to see what was around. We came across a nice street market at around noon when all the office workers were out buying food. We came back to the hotel area for our own lunch though. We ate South Indian. By then it was 2:00 pm and upon arriving our new room was ready. Although only in the room long enough to unpack and type this, it seems to be without hint of elevator noise.
Later in the evening we went to Chinatown. It really isn't far away. There's a famous street that is chockablock full of various type of vendors. We couldn't be convinced to buy a thing though. It's called Jalan Petaling. I really, really love KL and Malaysia so far. It seems time to be postcardish: Having a good time. Wish you were here!
