I was thinking how 'long in the tooth' Flickr has been looking lately. That site, as you might know, is pretty nearly the definition of what has become known as Web 2.0, after all. The photo-sharing site was one of the first to realize that the value of their site was all to do with the content of its users. Yet, over the past couple of years, I really hadn't noticed much updating except for a few changes to site layout.
Overall things seemed to offer little in the way of modern, social-networking integration. Then, suddenly, voilà! Today, I noted a brand new panel promoting the connections I'd already made with other websites. It's surely a step in the right direction.
Someday, just like neural networks in a living brain, information added to the Internet will be accessible to other net applications regardless of the original form and location.
