It was not an exceptionally great class today. First, none of the students had brought in examples of instructions. As we are in a unit focusing on making instructions and process paragraphs, I had hoped they would bring in real-world examples found at home. Usually they are pretty good at getting homework completed but my online reminder went, for the most part, unread.
Still, by the time we were ready to pack up, I had enjoyed my time. I would say that I most always feel satisfied when finishing class. I cannot help but think about the many people who probably do not enjoy how they make money. And, yet, here I am! I am still amazed that I'm able to do something that I like and get a bunch of money to boot. Of course, like whenever one has to be somewhere at a specific time, there are days when I go to class somewhat unenthusiastically.
Yet, generally the minutes fly by and there are three reasons why. My students are adults, many with a large number of work and life experiences. They come to class motivated to improve their language skills. Also, I am pretty free to do whatever I wish within the framework of our program. Lastly, working at the British Columbia Institute of Technology means we have computer support as well as being able to choose materials which are related to business and technology.
