Older, but Wiser

I wear the fact I can remember the 70's as a badge of honour. I'm mature enough to remember retro before it was. Alas, without trying to sound like an old geezer, it did seem a simpler time. Okay, human emotions have always been the same; I just meant llife was less complicated without cell phones and the Internet. They were the days when one could walk right up to the gate at an airport to greet the people arriving. They were the days when the world was in shock over a big oil embargo which more than doubled prices, pushing it to around $5.00 a barrel!

Those are all background facts. Of course what's more obvious when looking back 35 years ago is the styles. A few questions can make an easy test to determine if someone truly remembers those days. Was the colour of your refrigerator Harvest Gold or Avacado? What percentage of your clothes were made of entirely synthetic materials? Where did you see your first disco ball?

It's strange how even hair style can help to identify a decade. For example, in the opening scene of this Sri Lankan music video, it was obvious that it contained flashbacks. From the get go, it's easy to see they are reminiscing about a former time. One wouldn't have to understand Singhalese to figure that out.
