So Much Less Paper

I remember hearing about the concept of paperless offices many decades ago, yet until quite recently it was simply a pipe dream. The widespread use of the Internet has seemed to propel us forward in that respect though.

I've seen the demise of most paper forms at BCIT over the last twelve years. Since I began, things such as part-time contracts, payroll slips, and even income tax forms have migrated online. Recently, just e-copies of paper tests will be archived by our program administrator.


One of the last bastions of printed and photocopied documents is finally going the way of the dodo. Starting this fall, the venerable course outline will no longer exist on paper. We will create them online and they will be read through the students' web portal. I now notice the addition of a few functions in the graphic above. I can see this when logged on as faculty member.

It couldn't have happened soon enough.
