I realize we'll be paying for it in provincial taxes for the rest of our lives. The building cost twice as much as originally anticipated; however, it rose from pilings during the 'bubble' in construction projects. Hopefully, increased economic activity from the newly opened Vancouver Convention Centre will also continue until we die.
It opened on Friday and thew its doors open to the public this weekend. We went this morning. The Vancouver Convention Centre is an amazing building and finally gives Vancouver a more complete waterfront and additional public space. The six acres of green roof and efficient heating/cooling system are forward thinking and this is a statement in itself about the city.
