There was nothing out of the ordinary on our return trip to Vancouver today. We caught the WestJet return flight. It was due for a 1:25 pm departure. So, our morning routine was slow and relaxing and we packed after getting up.
The Uber to the airport was quick. Getting to the gate took a while because lots of passengers had to get through security. Terminal 3 is a busy place both day and night.
We efficiently boarded and it looked as though we might get an early take off.
However, it started to pour again. It has rained for three of our four days in Las Vegas. We were sandwiched between two high pressure systems that didn't seem to want to go anywhere. During the first five days of May, we were present for four. Vegas has already set records as the fourth rainiest May even though there are still three weeks remaining of this one! It didn't seem a lot like we were visiting a desert on this trip.
Our plane had to wait for an unflooded runway, so we lost all the gain we had in getting off the ground. Yet, we managed to make it to Vancouver just 10 minutes later than we were scheduled.
We had filled out our customs declarations via the Canadian ArriveCan app. This allowed us to buzz through the special machine and were waved on through to the luggage collection. It took a bit for our bag to arrive but we went out to the SkyTrain at 5:00 pm and rode on both the Canada Line and our Expo Line. We were home before 6:10 pm.
