The tour is in a passenger van and promises around a dozen people. As well as seeing the cute African penguins of Boulder Beach, we will get to take a short hike to see the sign and old lighthouse at the Cape of Good Hope.
Before the creation of the Suez Canal, and recently because of the Houthi rebels of Yemen, ship traffic around Africa has been important for discovery and trade. Rounding the cape was probably first accomplished in years BC. But the first recorded European explorer was Portuguese Bartolomeu Dias in 1488. It's known to have rather choppy seas.
It's not really the most southern point in Africa nor is it really where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Indian Ocean. However, ships do begin to head eastward after rounding it. It will be an honor to see such an important place in maritime history.
