DAY 016: Jay and I bought fast-ferry tickets yesterday for the 12:30 pm sailing from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam. The largest city in Swahili Africa, on the mainland of Tanzania, is where we'll spend our next four nights.
We got a taxi from our hotel at about 11:15 am because we are carrying two suitcases with our belongings that'll last us to mid-March 2025. At the port, we checked the bags like on an airline and had to pick them up as they were rolled off in the capital city of nine million! It took under an hour and a half to travel 83 kilometers.
Being too proud to ask for help, we rolled our bags on our own to the Harbour View Suites. We knew it was within walking distance of the Azam Ferry Terminal. We just didn't know which direction. However, we had checked in by 3:00 pm and we were napping within 45 minutes of that. We are afternoon nappers even when travelling.
Later, we walked around a bit and had dinner in a connected casino in the towers where we are staying.
