Day 3 - Ketchikan, Alaska

Day 3 - Ketchikan, AK
We had to set the clocks an hour earlier last night because we are on Alaskan time. So, we were able to sleep a little extra. Jay and I sat at the table on the Lido for breakfast. The ceiling to floor window was facing away from the city of Ketchikan. The view above was a pleasant way to start a pleasant day.

Day 3 - Ketchikan, AK

Our only efforts today including walking around one of my favourite cruise ports in Alaska. It advertises itself as the first stop in Alaska because it isn't far from the Canadian border with British Columbia. I love how compact the old downtown is and how easy it is to walk around town. Ketchikan is also known for salmon and rain. The annual rainfall amounts to around 12 feet per year. However as you can see, we lucked out with another beautiful day in this small city.

Day 3 - Ketchikan, AK

Jay and I walked leisurely around but easily put on about 6.5 km as reported on Fitbit.  It really was splendid weather.  We noticed the ms Statendam pull into the city too.  Holland America puts a large 'We Heart Alaska' signs on their ships.  It wouldn't be a visit to Ketchikan without a walk to Creek Street, the former red-light district with its picturesque buildings.

Our cruise left at five on the dot.  We're heading now to our second of two cities on this short itinerary.  We'll be in Prince Rupert, British Columbia tomorrow morning at 7:00 am.
