Day 38 - The waters of the Gulf are not deep and seldom turbulent. So there was little ship motion while we were in bed. Our ship docked at the Dubai Cruise Terminal after we'd had breakfast. We walked around the ship first and then decided to head outside.
We'd already done some sightseeing in Dubai, so we chose to hop on a free shuttle to the Mercato Shopping Mall in Jumeirah. It was not too far away and in the area that we used to call Jumeirah, now known as Jumeirah 1. There are newer areas with increasing numbers along the beach as one heads away from the city. The mall is designed to look like a Mediterranean town during the European Renaissance in Italy. It is about 20 years old but wasn't built by the time left the city.
We got back on board for a late lunch and enjoyed some of the ship's facilities. We also watched activities from the ship. SailGP, an international sailing competition featuring high-performance F50 foiling catamarans, had a Grand Prix in Dubai next to our ship. I think New Zealand won and Canada didn't even place.
We have been going to the early shows and performances as we've dined late. Each night in the front theatre we saw something different. Tonight's was just songs and dance. Although it was called, Boogie Nights, there was an eclectic mix of numbers.
The night view of this city is not similar to what we could've seen in the first half of the 1990s. Of course, there was no cruise ship port then either.
