Oh my, it's been quite a while since we have travelled in Central/Eastern Europe. At the time of this picture, Jay and I were in Budapest, Hungary. We did a trip mostly by airplane and on buses sixteen years ago!
Jay's always been interested in a number of nearby countries that we didn't see. We know we'll probably copy this year's successful trip during June. It's a time when the weather is springlike but before the huge tourist crowds venture forth.

Perhaps we could travel more like we used to decades ago. Rather than micromanaging everything through the Internet, we might simply go and explore. Trains run between major cities on a regular basis and should be the primary way we hop from place to place. We can give ourselves a whole month to wander. Our arrival and departure locations needn't be in the same city.
Of course, this is all in the preliminary stages. It might not even happen, but as with most good trips, an idea has to start the process.
