Day 8 - We're in Nice and it's Sunday. So we figured we had to go out for a walk that included a stretch of the seven-kilometer Promenade des Anglais. Nowadays, one is not likely to run into English aristocracy although that may have been the case in the mid-1800s. Today, one is much more likely to be run over by a bicyclist or a baby stroller.
Our apartment rental is near the main train station but it takes less than fifteen minutes to walk to the sea. We enjoyed strolling on verdant avenues and through parks along the way. We came out to the sea on the far side of the Hotel Negresco and walked east toward Castle Hill, highlighted in a recent blog post. We continued inland so as to join the crowds in Place Massena.
Jay did a video chat with both sisters as we are just 3.5 hours ahead of Sri Lankan time. Nice had free wifi both by on the Promenade and near the Tram #1 route by the 'Sun Fountain'. Avenue Jean Medecin is always a pleasure to walk. It reminds me of Barcelona's La Ramblas or Istiklal Street in Istanbul.
