We found the location as we knew the area thanks to Google Streetview. It took a while to get into our apartment as the whole country had a bank holiday because the winning football team had arrived back from Qatar.
We are situated four blocks from Avenida 9 de Julio, considered by Guinness World Records as the widest boulevard in the world. We joined the festivities near the famous obelisk. Somewhere between one and five million people were out and about in the city.
Jay and I picked up some food including a cooked chicken to eat as lunch in the apartment. We unpacked. We had a nap and picked up a few more items in the evening. Sunset is about 8:10 pm so it gets dark at almost 9:00.
It was exciting to arrive here for three months on such an auspicious day. The last time Argentina won the world cup, I was teaching in the Mideast.
Speaking of such things: it's nice to already feel at home for these next three months. I love that Jay and I manage to live a lot of lives because of our travels. This is our view from the balcony looking toward the plaza.
