We're in a weird place this year, time-wise. Buenos Aires is two hours ahead of NYC and a whopping five hours ahead of home. We're not close to a European time zone either. (This blog time is still set to Vancouver time, so the bottom time stamps will appear five hours off all winter. It's currently 12:57 pm, not 7:57 am.)
When we were waiting in a queue at the supermarket a few minutes ago, I thought about how everybody must have also been caught off guard. It was crowded. Yet, the rush could have been due to it being a Saturday, I suppose.
This city doesn't seem to have a main, public area for a congregation on New Year's eves. I suspect, that although not sanctioned, we might be able to see fireworks tonight at Puerto Madero. It's really close to us as it's just a short subway ride and a walk to this flashy part of the city. As we were slowed down a bit by cold and coughs this week, we haven't visited yet. What a nice night to go!
