Times Change

I have mistakenly prided myself on my natural practicality. I assumed I had always believed a Timex was just as helpful as a Rolex. I wondered why people would spend extra money on timepieces that were not markedly better at keeping time. 

Then, I remembered my work in the '80s in the Middle East. Watches were badges of status and watch shops were on every other corner. I used to strap one of these on my wrist every day.  It measured the temperature and maybe this was important to me in Saudi Arabia.

 

I've been wearing six revisions of Xiomi's cheap activity trackers for years and years.  They can be had for about a quarter of the price of a Fitbit®.  Now, however, I may be ready to buy a Google Pixel Watch, the company's initial offering in that category.  I first laughed at Apple watches, but that was back in 2015.   Times change, so to speak!
