In BC, I need a tiny bit of Internet when we're not near wifi. Surprisingly that isn't much data. Canada, though, is not a great place for mobile telecommunications. We're hindered by expansive geography and a relatively small population. This combines to make for rather high rates. And now, phone companies realize that customers need more data, so their effort is going into plans that offer 50 GB.
I found I needed to return to Freedom Mobile for my British Columbian, summer fix. I got a six-month pay-up-front plan with just 2 GB data per month for a total of CA$99 (US$78) plus taxes. This will be easier than playing around with monthly bills. Unfortunately, we have another seven months before we head off again in November.
