These pictures were taken at Festival City. We had originally intended to head to the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain. It probably would have only been a light show. We chickened out after waiting in the BurJuman Metro Station with thousands of others trying to get on the Red Line. Clearly, things were greatly overcapacity.
As we'd read about the Festival City fireworks, we instead boarded a train heading to the Creek Station on the Green Line. From there we had to wait for a ferry. I'm not sure why the Marine Transport people didn't anticipate the huge crowds. They called in a big ship and we had the chance to board a ship much larger than during our last boat across the Dubai Creek.
The wait over and back was definitely worth it. These fireworks weren't really long but must have been the most intense display I've seen in my 62 years. The weather was delightful and perfect to be outside in short sleeves.
