It was an easy trip from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific. Our taxi was waiting when we rolled our bags from where they'd been for three months. As the traffic on Sunday morning was light, it took us less than an hour to get to the Cancun airport. We had much more than enough time as we booked the 12:35 flight to Mexico City. We also had ample time in that airport in transit. We ate sandwiches that Jay had brought along.
Our flight from there to Mazatlan was on a smaller Embraer with about 25 rows with two seats on each side of the aisle. There were less than a hundred passengers altogether, but of course, the single screaming kid in the seat behind us! We were about a half-hour late getting away from crowded Mexico City traffic control. We made up a little time and arrived at a near-empty airport at 5:20 pm.
No Uber drivers were near the airport, so we went directly to the taxi counter and as we were in Zone One, we paid 430 Mexican Pesos. That is over $US 20 for a 20 kilometer trip. It might sound like a bargain in some places, but it is definitely steep for Mexico. As we travelled I used Whatapp to communicate with our AirBNB host. She was there with an interpreter to give us the keys and explain the details.
We're home for the next couple of months. We like the place which is right in the historical central section of Mazatlan. This city bills itself as the "Colonial City on the Beach". We were pretty tired tonight because Playa del Carmen was a couple of time zones ahead of our present location. A little while ago, we did find the big, Lay Supermarket that is two blocks down one street and two the other way. It is very close to the cathedral and central business district of the old city.
