We left the apartment and walked to the Playa del Carmen bus station before 11:00. We bought tickets on a large bus heading towards Merida through Tulum. The station here is nearly a kilometer from our hotel but we slowly walked along the side streets of the town's main drag.
There wasn't much to unpack. It was about 1:30 pm when started walking to find the Chedurai Supermarket here. It was a large one and as we'd not eaten lunch, we sat in their canteen and had sandwiches, ham empanadas, and large, fried-potato sections. Then, we went shopping for all our breakfast needs. Before checking out at the market, we figured that it'd be good to have a roasted chicken and bread in the studio apartment. The full-size fridge looked empty.
We felt pretty tired and took an afternoon nap. When we got up, we noticed rain showers again. When we were riding here on the bus, it went through some heavy deluges.
It gets dark around 6:30 pm now. Here are a few pictures along the way to the Municipal square. Lots and lots of the tourist here seem really young. Although there are trucks with taped messages about wearing masks for COVID protection, very few of tourists were. The crowds of tourists in Playa del Carmen are more mixed and seem more responsible.
Tomorrow our only plan is the ancient Mayan ruins. The entrance is a couple of kilometers down the roads from here.
