A Day Trip to Chichen Itza

We have been staying in the Mayan region of Mexico for nearly three months. The famous archeological site in Chichen Itza lies a little more than two hours by road from Playa del Carmen. 

Today, we took a bus tour to Chichen Itza. We walked to the pickup point for a 7:50 am departure. The day was divided into three main parts. First, we stopped briefly in the city of Valladolid. Then, we proceeded to the ruins. Finally, on the return trip, we had lunchtime and a visit to the Selva Maya (Saamal) cenote.  Our tour bus arrived back in town at around 6:00 pm.
