Day 98 - "Hey, pretty soon they'll be taking down the Chinese New Year decorations." I added, "We never went to visit it before."
A trip to the Thean Hou Chinese Buddhist Temple sounded like a nice plan for a morning activity. Now that we've got a Grab rideshare back up on my phone, we took a car there and back. It was pretty all decked out and it offered some nice views of parts of Kuala Lumpur as it sits up in an area called Robson Heights.
After an hour, we asked the returning driver to drop us off at the SOGO Shopping Centre. We lucked into a dragon dance right as we were getting out of the car. We got a little, free swag for being in the crowd. The two mandarin oranges in a little mesh bag were tasty.
As always, we ended up doing a fair bit of shopping this evening. First, Jay and I are settling into our studio apartment for another seven weeks and need to stock the refrigerator and cupboards. More importantly, the girls have just three days left here. They need to get all their shopping done before next Monday.
Interestingly, Jay's sisters find the ample sizes and prices of famous-brand shampoos and lotions irresistible. However, it is also mandatory that they bring back all sorts of chocolates and toffee to give to friends and relatives in Sri Lanka. The price of most food is more expensive than in Sri Lanka but there is a better selection here. So they also have gotten things like Quaker oats and spice packets. The purses and a few clothes were some of the initial purchases. Tonight, Jay brought his younger sister a new piece of check-in luggage to help get the booty back on Sri Lankan Air.
