We stay in the brown and tan building with the blue top.
Day 99 - The KL Tower was built in 1995 and so I never knew Kuala Lumpur without it. It is more a part of our lives than the landmark Petronas Towers as we have looked at it a lot. For three months of last winter, we stayed in the same place we're staying now. We can see the communications tower and the little jungle hill it sits on from our balcony window. I love the mix of urban and tropical here.
Today, we walked around Bukit Nanas to the entrance to the ECO Forest Park. It is a trail up the hill with some towers and suspension bridges offering a good view of the surrounding city. Kuala Lumpur, in fact has grown completely around the hill which when translated into English, becomes 'Pineapple Hill'. We found the jungle trail is no longer free. It is not even reasonable at RM 40 for adults. That is near US ten bucks. How silly of someone to have decided this hearty nature walk must now have a park fee!
We walked to the other corner of the hill and walked up the road which brings up busloads of tourists to the KL tower. The prices to go up the tower have become exorbitant as well. We enjoyed the views from the bottom of the structure. It was nice getting up close to it as it puts on a light show to entertain us every evening.
