You Don't Know Jack?

Day 47 - Jackfruits are common in many tropical locations, including Africa and Brazil. They originated and are commonly eaten in South and SE Asia. You can read the entry in Wikipedia here. I was fascinated the first time I saw one mainly because of the sheer size of the fruit when uncut. A single jackfruit can grow to over 100 lbs.

There are several mature jackfruit trees in the garden. Today, Jay decided to cut one. The following ten photos show just how much work he did. Something you cannot see is extracting the fruit and seeds is a very, very sticky process. He washed his hands in coconut oil in order to help clean his hands.
