Day 101 - This photo is cute, I agree. However, you do not know the whole story. This wild money is eating an ice cream cone because he is a thief. We were warned, near the Tiger Cave Temple, the monkeys could be aggressive. This is a bad monkey as he assessed the crowds and decided the weak point between himself and his treat was a 4 or 5-year-old girl. The tiny, tyke of a tourist was understandably upset by a monkey attack. We noticed the situation because of her shrieks and sobs. Don't make a judgement without knowing the entire situation.

The Tiger Cave Temple is not far from the town of Krabi. It is out on the way to the airport. We should have bought tickets for a van to the site yesterday. Our neglect meant we were too late for the common 9:00 AM departure times. We attempted to buy tickets just a few minutes too late. We had to catch an 11:00 AM trip to the temple complex. Our van dropped off passengers and continued taking others for their departures.

That put us at the best climb in this part of Thailand at the hottest, muggiest part of the day. We've been travelling the world for over three decades. Today was the first time, ever, that we saw a place we were not able to get to. It marked a change for us. Jay does remarkably well after his quintuple bypass. It doesn't seem possible that we're coming up on the second anniversary of his surgery in April. However, we didn't attempt to try something beyond our means. Don't choose to put off travel for some future date which may never arrive.

This is the view we will remember at a bit less than halfway up the mountain. Actually, the Tiger Cave Temple itself is right near when the van let us off. The background to this temple is not long, as it goes back only about 45 years.

At the moment an enormous new temple is under construction at the site.

We made it back to the city in time for a very late lunch in the main market area. Honestly, we preferred eating the Thai way at a stall which sold us two meals for a whopping total of Thai 90฿, or the equivalent of $US 2.89. Right next door, those in the touristy restaurants thought they were getting a deal paying five or six times that amount. They were eating with other tourists while we had an opportunity to eat with locals.
When travelling, try to be just like a local. Otherwise, you're not really getting an accurate picture of your location.
