Day 37 - Dealing with Canada's winters was tough for the first few years. We live in Vancouver so freezing weather wasn't really the problem. Nor is there much snow to deal with in the Lower Mainland. We were mostly affected by the lack of sunshine. Even when the sky is not completely covered with thick grey clouds, the days get short. Even when it's not raining, there's not a lot of natural light. In fact, the number of hours in a day seemed tiny after a decade and a half of winters in the Middle East. In retirement, we kind of run away for five months a year, from November to April, nowadays for the same reason.
Sticking closer to the equator means a complete year with near twelve-hour days. Right now in Bali, we are actually in the southern hemisphere. This means we're soon coming up to the longest day of the year.
