Day 10 - Uber couldn't compete with the competition in SE Asia. Just as we were leaving Malaysia last spring, they threw in the towel by selling its subsidiary to Grab. I loaded the app on my phone while in Canada and finally decided it was time to add a credit card today.
Using rideshare meant I would have to get an Indonesian SIM card after all. Actually, we put the XL card into my phone's second slot but as I'm not paying Telus during our break, my Canadian phone is not available. We walked all the way to our usual supermarket in order to buy it. We walked the familiar route filled with souvenir shops, restaurants, and tattoo parlours.

In the evening we were going to make use of Grab, but we ended up walking all the way to The Hard Rock Cafe part of the beach and back. We spent a lot of time in the lovely Beachwalk Shopping Center. It is neat how one can integrate open area spaces in a tropical climate.

On the return trip, it was dark. There was a lot of activity at the Hindu Temples. In fact we caught a bit of a huge performance as the large temple nearest our corner. We have walked over ten kilometers, again!
