We stopped at a Subway™ for a quick lunch in Merritt, BC and then took Highway 5A. It is a bit longer and substantially slower, but what a leisurely, lovely drive! One spends a great deal of the trip running north beside several large glacier-carved lakes. The whole trip here was probably about 350 KM (220 miles).

Our hotel had our Expedia reservation and we checked in a 2:30 PM. After a nap, we drove through downtown Kamloops stopping at Riverside Park. We were rather hungry, so we used to GPS to go to Cascades Casino. We show our BC casino cards and get 25% off buffet purchases anywhere in the province. We're over 55 and that qualifies us as seniors. That's a good thing but I ate too much.

We walked a bit of the downtown again before getting back to the hotel. The Best Budget Inn & Suites has a small pool and hot tub. The rooms are fine. Hotels are much cheaper in the BC Interior.
