Day 19 - The photo above is how we ended the day. It's the view from our apartment's balcony looking towards the area of Bayan Lepas on the southwestern part of Penang Island. I read that the name roughly translates into 'parakeet that flew away' in Malay. An urban legend states that a Sumatran family was coming ashore here in the 19th century with all their belongs. During the commotion, their pet bird escaped.
On the other hand, we started the day with the next photo. Jay ran out before breakfast to buy these hoppers from a lady making them by the roadside. Just as in Sri Lanka, these thin-edged pancakes can be eaten for breakfast or dinner. These were less than a Canadian quarter each. We each ate five but I could've eaten twice as many ... which is sort of the story of my life.
