We were on the land at 9:15. We walked by a crumbling, disused prison complex used when this was a French penal colony. We saw a picturesque bay with a round island just offshore. We continued away from the water and found a little hotel/camping spot that was very rustic and cute. Walking back to the wharf area, we were accompanied by a friendly dog. It seems all the local dogs have learned to supplement their diets when visitors arrive; handouts are always welcome.

We sat on the beach and watched the people, seagulls, and the arrival of a large, local ferry. Locals were selling some souvenirs and food items. Today we saw traditional meals cooked underground inside banana wrappings. Each contained casava, squash, taro root, chicken. The basket-sized wraps were family-sized.
We were back aboard early as the MS Noordam left at around 4:00 this afternoon.
