Day 07 - I'm sitting in a comfortable, leather reclining chair. It's in the dark paneled library of the MS Noordam but I'm beside a five-foot window. The anemic Acer netbook sits in the center of my lap. The MS Noordam currently sits atop 15,543 feet of Pacific Ocean. (I trust it is going to stay this way.)
The weather has been sunny with mostly clear skies during the bulk of the day. I'm feeling a whole lot better after even more fitful sleep last night. I got a tiny bit red relaxing in a chaise lounge by the aft pool. I soaked a while in a hot tub, and the breeze is perceptibly warmer as we continue west but also a little south. I'm reading, Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. I found it in the bestseller section of the ship's library. I think a Canadian donated it though because it still had an indigo.ca bookmark inside.
We always take our breakfast and lunch on the Lido deck. There are a number of stations serving various options. These change throughout the day and finish with evening buffet at 11:30 PM. The tables by the windows seat six, but we generally share with two other strangers. Today for lunch we ate with just Pete. He's an 87-year old fellow from Spokane, WA travelling alone. He has travelled a lot and prides himself on his geographical knowledge. He's going as far as Australia where he one worked for ten years. He was employed by IBM but has now been retired longer than he worked. We had an instant bond as we too retired early. We hope to collect our pensions for years and years.
There are so many interesting little stories from those we meet. I never really bother to jot them down, but probably should. We spend many years creating our own personal stories. In the end, that's all we have .. a story.
