Then about two years ago, I decided to buy a Xiaomi Band for activity tracking. In the spring of 2015 they were the cheapest option around. For a mere $25 bucks, they were hundreds less than the famous alternative brands. Xiaomi is known for a good quality build and it was comforting to be wearing something on my wrist again even though it had no display. Days of data can be stored and eventually sent by Bluetooth to an app on my phone. I learned to love it very quickly.
Save for a few months when I broke the rubbery-type wrist band in Egypt, I've worn it constantly. I like the sleep tracking function as much as its pedometer. One of the first things I do, when sipping my morning coffee, is run the Android app to see how many minutes I spent in 'deep sleep' the prior night. It is great getting an idea of how far I walk each day, even when I'm not striving for any specific number.

I was on amazon.ca today looking for a battery powered light for the washer /drier closet space. I spotted the newer Mi Band 2. They are not as cheap coming in about about $US 40 but I feel I deserve an upgrade. Monitoring my pulse has become a habit and the addition of that function will make the newer device more useful to me. I guess the clock function, even though it will cut down on the 2-month charge my older model keeps, will be useful.
Amazon promised me my package in a week but they generally get stuff delivered well ahead of their promise. I'll be sure to blog on this topic again after I get the newer unit strapped to my left wrist.
