Earlier this morning, I wanted to pick up a few items. I decided to go with Jay to Burnaby by SkyTrain. He uses the gym at the community center there. Right beside that is the largest shopping mall in British Columbia, the Metropolis at Metrotown. I popped in thinking how convenient life is here. Both choices and luck have seemed to played out perfectly for us in our choice of housing.
One door of our building exits directly into the Columbia SkyTrain Station. We can get to Vancouver Harbour in just about a half hour. The train will take us into Surrey, Coquitlam, or Burnaby. The building has room for a vehicle too, so we can have one for personal convenience and longer trips. I do love living in an urban setting because of the proximity to a large number of facilities.
We picked this building for those reasons; in fact, so long ago that the value of the property has more than doubled since we purchased it. We had cash enough to pay for the apartment; thus, we have essentially had a completely free place to live for almost 18 years. In addition, as we get older, we won't have to downsize, as we never up-sized in the first place.
For this next chapter in life, our early retirement, having this place is perfect. We can enjoy living during summers in magnificent British Columbia. Then, we are free to roam the world during the area's rainy winters. For our part, we just switch off the utilities and turn a key. The building is secure and maintained during any absence.
